RE: Cruiser inquiry?

Try going to the Cross Roads web site if you haven't already. There are a lot of good people with good information there. There is a separate forum just for the Cruiser line. I am sure you can get most of your questions answered. Thanks, Mike

RE: F350 diesel transmission

I am towing with a 2007 power stroke and I rarely use the tow mode. In fact I have only used it when in the mountains were I need the power and the engine braking. The mechanic at the dealership I bought from said as long as the transmission isn't searching/shifting frequently and the temperature is in the normal range you don't need the tow mode. Now I am only towing about 9000 lbs. Maybe close to capacity you need it, not sure. Thanks, Mike

RE: 7-Way Connector Wire Severed

You can buy the male connector end at just about any RV shop. Everything is color coated to wire right into the connector. No need to splice. I think it would give you a much cleaner looking job. Thanks, Mike

RE: Watch the height restrictions

WOW! I now feel just a LITTLE bit better for backing mine under the basketball rim and putting a cut in my roof. Thank the Lord for Eternabond! Mike

RE: New Sunset Trail Fifth Wheel

Walt, I have been trying to register on the Cross Roads forum. I have tried three times and I am not getting a confirmation from the moderators. I'm not sure if I am doing something wrong or not. Maybe you can give me some advice on what to do. I have been tying to go in under username mkbunnell. We can't wait to get the new camper out. More than likely it won't be until Memorial Day Weekend. We have reservations at Pinchot. i know that is close to home but my wife typically has to work at least one day on a holiday weekend. This way she just gets up to go to work in the morning and we still get to camp. We are looking forward to the next years rally. Sounds like fun. Mike

RE: New Sunset Trail Fifth Wheel

kilbrider, Not on the Crossroads Forum yet. I registered but I must have done something wrong because I never got an e-mail confirmation. I am going to try again but will probably select a new user name. Thanks for the reply. I have read a lot about the Crossroads units and I thinl I am really going to like this one. Thanks, Mike

New Sunset Trail Fifth Wheel

Well After a lot of looking, research and discussion we did it. We traded the Palomino Thorobred Trailer on a brand new 2008 Fifth Wheel. The trailer was a bunk house which we really didn't need anymore. The fifth wheel floor plan has a real nice rear living area with a slid on both sides. Not that we spend a lot of time in the trailer but it will suit much better when you do get caught out on rainy days. I have a lot to learn about the differences between the Fifth Wheel and the trailer so I will be looking to you all for advice. The first thing I did notice was there is a huge difference in the way it tows. I think it is a much better ride and seems to handle better than the trailer. I'm not looking forward re-packing all of the "stuff", but I can't wait to get it out to the campground! I don't know; maybe I will change my user name and pass word to get rid of the Palomino reference. Not that we had any trouble, it was a good unit for us. Thanks, Mike

RE: Sunset Trail 27RE

Seabeee8, The fishing was terrible. The lake is so wind whipped right now it is like a huge mud hole. We only got one fish on Friday and the weather was so bad we couldn't even go out on Saturday or Sunday. Oh well that's the chance you take. Thanks for the invite to the rally. Probably can not make it this year, we aren't picking the unit up until Thursday the 24th. Of course then we will have to re-load and all. Hopefully next year though. Looking forward to being part of the Crossroads family. I have read a lot of good things about Crossroads. Maybe we will run into each other this summer. It would be a pleasure to meet you. Thanks for the responses. Thanks, Mike

Sunset Trail 27RE

After a lot of looking, research, and analyzing we finally decided to make the jump from a travel trailer to the Sunset Trail Fifth Wheel. We will take delivery Thursday 4/24. The dealer is installing a Reese 16K hitch which I understand are pretty good hitches. I have an F-250 with the 8" bed so I don't need to worry about a slide hitch. I am a little worried about the difference in backing but I guess it will just take some practice. So all that to say I hope you guys don't mind if I hang around and begin to learn all I can about the fifth wheel experience. Lord knows I learned a lot on the Travel Trailer forum and I am sure I will here too. Thanks, Mike

RE: Crossroads Sunset Trail

Buckeye Nut, As far as the storage goes I believe the kitchen and living area were about the same. The Sunset Trail exceled mor in the bedroom area and the bathroom. I have a Palomino Thoroughbred now and it has one of those tiny little bathrooms that you can't hardly walk in and turm around in. Outside storage was about the same. I'm still working with the guy on the Sunset Trail but I think we are going to make the deal work. Boy they shure don't want to give you anything on your trade. I better keep the next one for awhile. As far as RV Direct, I really don't know anything about them. I guess I am just one of those people who feel more comfortable being able to walk into the dealers if I have any problems. Good luck with your search and I will keep you guys posted if I get it. I am leaving for Port Clinton tomorrow morning to hopefully deplete a bit of the Walleye population so it will be next week until I post anything. Thanks, Mike

RE: Crossroads Sunset Trail

Buckeye Nut, Sorry for not answering your question on my last response. We did infact compare the SunsetTrail to the Jayco. The Jayco is a real nice unit. I think the things that made us lean towards the Sunset Trail were realatively small issues for most but made the difference for us. 1. Most importantly was price. We could not get the Jayco dealer near the price for the Sunset Trail. 2. Liked the bathroom arrangement in the Sunset Trail better. 3. Liked the black tank flush system on the Sunset Trail. 4. There seemed to be more storage in the Sunset Trail. 5. The 2/5 Warranty! 6. Then there was that strange feeling you get when you are looking over a unit that "Yes this is the one, I feel comfortable in here". Heck my wife gets it every year at the York and Hershey Camper Shows. Just a few reasons. But like I said, There was nothing I found wrong with the Jayco. Pound for Pound, Dollar for Dollar a nice unit. Good Luck with your decision, Mike

RE: Crossroads Sunset Trail

Thanks a bunch for the input. I did check out the forum on the Crossroads web site and everyones does seem happy with the Crossroads product. If I make the jump I will let you know how we like ours. Seabeee8, Nice to hear from someone in our area. We like the State Parks a lot. So if you like to camp Pinchot, Codorus, Caledonia on those short weekend trips maybe we will run into you. Have a great summer of camping everyone. Mike

Crossroads Sunset Trail

My wife and I are thinking of making the jump from our Palomino Trailer to a Sunset Trail Fifth Wheel. I believe this is a totally new unit for 2008 (27RE). Does anyone have any input on the Sunset Trail line as a whole. Good Unit? Towability? How about warranty issues. Crossroads or Thor Industries also makes the Seville so I got to believe they know what they are doing because the Seville seems to be a very good unit. Any input much appreciated. Thanks, Mike

RE: Alcohol in PA state parks

Wow. I thought it was pretty simple. I camp in the State Parks a lot and all the signs I saw said "Alcoholic Beverages Prohibited". I never thought it was open for interpretation. So, if you do and you get caught by the Rangers and are asked to leave then it's all on you. Don't blame them for doing their job. State Parks are what they are. Heck I don't like the one car per site (Unless I pay for a second one) rule, but that again is part of the price for camping in State Parks. Just my two cents. Certainly not here to judge anyone. RE: 2008 Ford F-250 Super Duty w/ 6.4 turbo-diesel

Bought a 2007 with the 6.0 in May of this year, mostly because I could get a better deal. Those 08s are nice though, and quiet. Close to 4,000 on mine now. We towed through the mountains of Northern Pa. in September. The truck is awesome. I have no doubt you will love yours. Mike
